Many organizations and  individuals are working on environmental justice issues in New England.  However, there is no formal way for New England environmental justice advocates to come together, to share ideas and learn from each other.  The New England Environmental Justice Forum (NEEJF) will bring together advocates from across New England through a series of trainings held around the region, followed by a day-long New England Environmental Justice Summit where future plans for the Forum will be discussed.

As a first step to connecting environmental justice advocates, the Forum is sponsoring Regional Trainings, one in Boston and the other in Hartford.  The content of the trainings will be identical, but are being held in two locations to increase participation throughout the region.  At the Regional Trainings participants will meet other environmental justice advocates who work in communities relatively close by.  Also, lawyers interested in providing assistance in environmental justice matters will receive training on how to work with grassroots groups.  There will be opportunities for interaction between EJ advocates and lawyers, with the hope of starting long lasting relationships.  Additionally, four (4) open mic issue rooms will be set up where participants will be asked to speak about their campaigns and how those campaigns reduce health disparities and address climate change.  Come prepared to talk!
